This wonderful old map of Dorset was originally published in 1806. It was created by John Cary.
Located in South West England on the English Channel coast, Dorset is renowned for its beautiful coastline and landmarks, including Lulworth Cove, Corfe Castle and Durdle Door.
Interestingly Bournemouth was only a relatively new addition to the county in 1974 and isn't on this map.
This map looks great at all sizes: 10x10 inches (25x25cm), 12x12in (31x31cm), 14x14 inches (36x36cm), 16x16in (41x41cm), 18x18in (46x46cm), 24x24 inches (61x61cm), 36x36 inches (92x92cm), 45x45 inches (114.5x114.5cm), 50x50 inches (127x127cm) and 60x60 inches (152.5x152.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 60in (152cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x18in (46x46cm) version of this map.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
Please note the unframed 24x24 inches (61x61cm) map has white edges around the map. These edges can help you with framing, or if you don’t need them they are very easy to snip off with scissors. All other maps, including the framed maps, look exactly like the listing images.
If you’re looking for something slightly different, another option would be this amazing map of Dorset by John Speed in 1611.
The locations on this map include: Weymouth, Dorchester, Poole, Corfe Castle, Wimborne Minster, Blandford Forum, Sherborne, Bridport and Shaftesbury.
Please contact me to check if a certain location, landmark or feature is shown on this map.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in Dorset or someone who enjoys spending time in the West Country.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
