Map size guide
Maps with intricate detail are best enjoyed at larger sizes, giving smaller place names and features more room to be appreciated. Each map is made to order, so custom sizing is also available: select 'custom size' on the product page and enter your dimensions, or add them to your order notes at checkout.
Your map fills the entire sheet, with no additional white border. The design is presented as shown in the product images. To request extra space around the map, please contact us or leave a note with your order.
Compare a selection of our standard sizes below, shown in landscape and portrait orientation.

| 16x12in (40x30cm) | 20x16in (50x40cm) | 24x18in (60x45cm) |
36x24in (90x60cm) |

| 12x16in (30x40cm) | 16x20in (40x50cm) | 18x24in (45x60cm) |
24x36in (60x90cm) |
Framed maps
Our standard frames add approximately 2cm (0.75in) on each side. For example, a 45x60cm map measures around 49x64cm including its frame, while a 24x36in map measures around 25.5x37.5in. Allow for these outer dimensions when measuring your wall space.
Maps over 125cm/50in usually have wider frames. For a particular frame width or style, explore our custom framing options.
Unframed maps
Planning to frame your map yourself? The guidance below will help you choose the right fit, particularly for larger maps and less conventional sizes.
Choosing a frame that fits
Use the dimensions listed for your chosen map to select a frame. Look for the size of artwork the frame holds, rather than the frame's outer dimensions.
For example, an 18x24 inch map needs a frame that 'fits artwork' measuring 18x24 inches. For a 60x90cm map, choose a frame that fits 60x90cm artwork.
For unusual sizes, such as 24x11 inches (61x29cm), we recommend waiting until your map arrives before ordering a frame. Dimensions can vary by a few millimetres, so measuring the print first will help ensure a good fit.
For a map that needs to fit exact dimensions in centimetres or inches, please contact us. Custom sizing is available at no additional charge for maps over 50in/125cm.
Framing larger maps
Before ordering a separate frame for a large map, wait until your print arrives and measure it. This gives you the dimensions you need to choose a frame with confidence.
If you are using a local framer, take the map with you so they can measure it and make the frame to fit.
Careful mounting helps larger maps lie flat and reduces the risk of rippling. For a professionally finished piece, we would be happy to frame your map for you.
Gift message & custom finish

If you want to add a gift message, or a finish (jigsaw, aluminium board, etc.) that is not available here, please request it in the "order note" when you check out.
Every order is custom made, so if you need the size adjusted slightly, or printed on an unusual material, just let us know. We've done thousands of custom orders over the years, so there's (almost) nothing we can't manage.
You can also contact us before you order, if you prefer!
Approve before printing
After we make your map, we’ll email your design proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it, and you can request changes first.

Continue readingPierre-Joseph Redouté’s Rosa Muscosa Anemone-Flora, dated 1817 and first published between 1817 and 1824, presents an anemone-flowered moss rose as a poised, branching specimen rather than a lavish bouquet. A fully opened pink blossom occupies the upper part of the composition, its layered petals gathered around a small yellow centre, while two tighter buds extend in opposing directions. The asymmetry gives the plant a gentle visual movement across the otherwise spacious, pale ground.
Redouté was celebrated for reconciling the demands of botanical record with the refinements of floral art. Working in France during a period of intense interest in plant classification and cultivation, he became known as the “Raphael of flowers”; his studies were admired by botanists and collectors as much for their observational clarity as for their graceful arrangement. This rose belongs to the publication period of his renowned Les Roses, issued from 1817 to 1824, a project that helped establish the rose as both a subject of systematic study and an object of exceptional pictorial variety.
A closer look
The principal flower is constructed through subtle shifts of pink, from deeper rose at the curled edges to paler passages where the petals catch the light. Rather than forming a simple circular bloom, the petals turn, overlap and fold in different directions, creating a softly irregular silhouette. The warm yellow centre is only partly exposed, a concentrated note of colour held within the broader field of pink.
Redouté balances this open flower with buds at different stages of development. The upper bud remains closely wrapped, while the lower one begins to loosen, allowing the plate to describe growth over time without abandoning its composed elegance. Their stems lead the eye diagonally through clusters of dark and mid-green foliage. Fine veins and sharply serrated edges distinguish individual leaves, while restrained shading gives each one volume without sacrificing the clarity of its structure.
Along the reddish-brown stems, minute prickles interrupt the smooth botanical contours. These small details offer a tactile counterpoint to the softness of the petals and reveal how carefully the plant’s less ornamental features have been retained. The generous negative space is equally important: isolated against warm cream, every fork of the stem and change in leaf direction remains legible. Beneath the specimen appears its botanical title and the French name “La Moussesuse de la Flèche”, accompanied at lower right by the discreet credit “Victor sculpt.”
Context and significance
Botanical illustration in Redouté’s period occupied a fertile space between science, horticulture and decorative culture. A plate needed to distinguish the plant convincingly, yet it also had to organise complex natural growth into a lucid page. Here, the open bloom, developing buds, serrated leaves and prickled stems provide a compact account of the rose’s character, while the measured diagonals and restrained palette turn that information into an unusually harmonious design.
The lasting appeal of Rosa Muscosa Anemone-Flora lies in this balance. Close observation never becomes clinical, and elegance never obscures botanical detail. From the almost imperceptible gradations within the petals to the smallest thorn along the stem, Redouté makes precision and delicacy appear entirely inseparable.
Choosing the right size and finish
Artwork can feel intimate at smaller sizes and dramatically more architectural at larger ones. Use the room preview, model image and size guide to see how the proportions and scale will work in your space.
If you need an exact size, specialist framing or help planning a larger display, ask our workshop for advice.
The model in the listing images is holding the 18x24in (45x60cm) version of this art print.
Where personalisation is available, you can add a short title or dedication, or one considered visual detail. See examples of personalised artwork.
Choose Original to retain the colour and character of the source artwork, or Aged for a warmer, more antique appearance. See examples of our Aged artwork.
Every piece is produced to archival standards using fade-resistant pigment inks on acid-free matte art paper. Choose an art print, framed art print or framed canvas using the finish options above.
Framed art prints use crystal-clear optical acrylic for excellent clarity, lower weight and safer delivery than glass. Each piece arrives professionally framed and ready to hang.
Selected artworks can be produced at statement sizes up to 3 metres (10ft). Custom sizing and specialist framing are also available. If the exact option you need is not listed, contact our workshop.
This artwork is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The work is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present an art print without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas art and explore the differences between my different finishes.

Our standard frame is a gallery-style black ash hardwood frame, with a simple, modern look. It is approximately 20mm (0.8in) wide. You can also view some lovely customer photos of framed maps and art.
We use super-clear acrylic glazing, also known as Perspex or Acrylite, instead of traditional glass. It is lighter, safer, and has lower reflectivity, giving the artwork a clearer, cleaner appearance.
Six standard frame colours are available at no extra cost: black, dark brown, dark grey, oak, white, and antique gold. Custom framing and mounting/matting is also available for customers looking for something more specific.
Most maps, art prints, and illustrations are also available as a framed canvas. We use matte cotton canvas, stretch it over a sustainably sourced wooden box frame, and then float the piece within a wooden outer frame. The finished result is beautifully presented, with no glazing between you and the artwork.
All frames are supplied ready to hang, with either string or brackets fitted to the back. Very large frames will include heavy-duty hanging plates and/or a mounting baton. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
We can also supply old maps and artwork on canvas, foam board, cotton rag, and other materials.
If you would prefer to frame your map or artwork yourself, please read our size guide before ordering.
We work with interior designers, hospitality businesses, property professionals, offices and corporate buyers on individual pieces and larger coordinated projects.

Every restored art print begins with the original artist’s work—never an AI-generated replacement.
Our London studio works from carefully selected source material from museums, libraries, archives and private collections. We restore age-related damage, faded colour and imperfect reproduction while preserving the artist’s composition, brushwork, line, texture and period character.
We do not use generative AI to redraw, reinterpret or invent the artwork. Digital restoration is used only to recover and reproduce the original work as faithfully as possible.
Once restored, the master artwork is prepared for your chosen size and finish. Your piece is then printed and, where selected, framed close to its delivery destination.
Our giclée art prints use acid-free 200gsm archival matte paper and fade-resistant pigment inks for a rich, museum-quality finish. Framed art prints use crystal-clear optical acrylic and arrive ready to hang.
Framed canvas and specialist cotton-rag editions are also available. Learn more about our materials and finishes.
We’ve been restoring and producing maps and art prints since 1984, and we stand behind every piece.
Every order is covered by our 10-year guarantee and damage-free delivery guarantee. If your piece arrives damaged, we’ll replace or remake it free of charge. If anything else isn’t right, contact our workshop team and we’ll put it right promptly.
